Un-Houselike Houses Are Still Houses

                     mixed media, 35*23*27(in), 2021

Not the conventional houses we see on the streets, the three houses in this series are unusual: they lack the functions of a house. The distinctive characteristics of these houses define each one’s idiosyncrasies.
The first house has an absurdly large roof without a supporting pillar, as well as a low fence, portraying it as futile at protecting the house. The prickly texture of its roof gives an aggressive impression. Following, the second house has an incomprehensible, twisted form on its interior, and a curved roof on its exterior. This serves as an example of a deceiving exterior: one can look ordinary from the outside, but actually be emotionally complex on the inside. While houses are built to be stable, the third house is round, looking as if it will roll away at any second. However, it also can be interpreted in the sense that it can travel anywhere. Despite not fitting the established standards of houses, these houses still appear to be houses. Hence, even if one doesn’t fit socially accepted standards and has imperfections, that does not change the fact that they are still people.
